Meet Mike:
Michael Hayes learned to water ski (Lake Arrowhead, CA - 1952) long before he became a goldsmith (Laguna Beach, CA - 1966). He served that small art colony in Southern California for more than 40 years as a jewelry designer and gemologist. In 2004, he sold his full service family jewelry store, that also included the title of "Official Rolex Jeweler".
He has been an active member of USA Water Ski serving first as the American Water Ski Association (AWSA) Western Regional Council Member for Area One (7 years), then as the AWSA Executive Vice President of the Western Region (3 years), on the AWSA National Board of Directors (6 years) as well as the Rules, Executive and International Activities Committees. As a skier he has competed in the AWSA US National Championships since 1992 with several podium finishes.
Mike holds the tournament official's rating of Senior Pan Am Judge in Slalom, Trick and Jump. He has served as Chief Judge for the AWSA Western Regional Championships, the AWSA National Championships and been selected to the Jury Panel for many international water ski competitions including the Elite World Championships in Santiago, Chile, the Moomba Masters in Melbourne, Australia, the Senior Worlds in Mexico and Spain (also as a competitor in Spain) and many other high level water ski competitive events.
Since 1990, Mike has used his gold & silver smithing skills combined with his water skiing expertise to create a unique line of jewelry intended to be enjoyed by other water sports enthusiasts. He is constantly seeking inspiration for building new creations and offers custom versions of his existing designs to suit your taste and budget.
